The Society of Durham Golf Captains was formed in 1977 and is a prestigious organisation which currently has over 400 members drawn from over 40 Golf Clubs in the County of Durham. C

oOne of the objects of the Society is to bring together like minded people who have been involved in the administration of club golf , for the camaraderie and competitive aspects of Golf.r

The Society provides a series of competitions and matches throughout each year played at Golf Clubs in Durham.The Society also arranges an Annual Dinner and Prize Giving where members can meet representatives of County Executives,other Captain's Societies and the other attending members of our Society.

Current Captains and Ex-Captains of Clubs in the County of Durham are invited and actively encouraged to join our Society. Application forms can be obtained from our Hon. Secretary.

DURHAM CATHEDRAL- Full name "The Cathedral Church of Christ, Blessed Mary

the Virgin and St. Cuthbert of Durham" and is the seat of the Anglican Bishop of Durham.The

Bishopric dates from 995, with the present cathedral being founded in AD 1093. The cathedral

is regarded as one of the finest examples of Norman architecture and has been designated a

UNESCO World Heritage Site along with nearby Durham Castle which faces it across Palace

Green.
